Obama NASCAR - Obama Demands Chevy and Dodge Out of NASCAR

obama-nascarToday Car and Driver broke the news that President Obama is insisting that Chevy and Dodge stop their participation in NASCAR, at the end of the 2009 season, to receive any additional bailout money.  If the two automakers withdraw from NASCAR, there would be a savings of $250 million between GM and Chrysler.  President Obama made this statement about the issue:

“This is an obvious cut to make, but it is not an easy one. This administration is not ignoring the tremendous sentimental value and emotional appeal NASCAR holds for so many Americans. But now is not the time for sentiment and nostalgia; now is a time for decisive financial action. If our automotive industry is to emerge from this recession intact, then these difficult decisions must be made.”

As President Obama has always stated, he is going to bring about change in this economy.  This is just another step in forcing corporate America to change their ways and gain some credibility.  It will be very interesting to see the reaction to this news!  Please comment below with your feelings.

APRIL FOOLS!  I hope none of you went too far with this as it was the annual April Fool’s Joke by Car and Driver.

As always, make sure to vote for President Obama on the Dollar here. We are trying to get over 1 million votes, so tell your friends!

You’re an asshole. This is just another step toward Fascism. In case you don’t know what that actually means:

“A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.”

We’re not even 5% there yet, but this is one giant leap and you cannot deny it. It is plain to see. When the democratically elected President DEMANDS anything from private corporations, it is no longer a democracy. If this is what you want, then I understand your enthusiasm.

If its not a joke it could be the beginning of the second Southern succession from the union. Mess with our income and jobs, but NASCAR?!? I can hear the rebel yell welling up from TX, AR, MS, AL, GA, FL, SC, NC and TN already. Since when do presidents make private company advertising decisions? And, since when do they screw around with popular institutions? Charge!

  10. happy April fool’s day everyone

i don’t think pulling funding for Nascar would have been so inappropriate in any case, desperate times and all

Since when does an urban agitator and small time legistlator with a law degree think he can run an enterprize with 100,000 plus employees, thousands of vendors, millions of customers and operations in every part of the world? Well thats one of those questions you’ll just have to ask people who voted for him last November..Glad I didn’t… Obama is trying to take over the private business sector one business at a time..He will fail..
